“We weren’t sure how they would receive us this time” said Ann E.W. Stone, National Chairman of Republicans for Choice PAC about her group’s participation in the March for Women’s Lives.
“There is just so much anger at this Republican Administration. But they cheered us and thanked us by the thousands. The limited number of signs we brought with us were scooped up quickly by enthusiastic supporters” Stone added.
“Everyone was so excited to see us! They said time and again that they were so glad we were there! So many people cheered and clapped when we walked by” said Jessica Wesche, an RFC supporter who said this was her first march.“We had RFC supporters who came from California, Florida, New York and elsewhere…we had young and old and in between come to march with us as Republicans.” Said Ben Wallner, Director of Administration for RFC.
“The funniest moment came when the RFC group carrying a 45 foot banner that proclaimed ‘Take Abortion Out of Politics’ went by the first group of DC policemen. “Pay up” said one policeman to another… “you lost the bet…there are actual Republicans in this March!” Stone said the policemen were heard to say. “Our group hooted and hollered to hear that exchange between the policemen... “You are right” we yelled to them… “We are real Republicans.”
