SPECTER VICTORY IS A VICTORY FOR THE BIG TENT
Ann Stone, National Chairman of Republicans For Choice PAC, speaking on behalf of their 150,000 member households nationwide, hailed Specter’s primary victory as a victory for all Republicans.
“Specter’s primary victory truly was a victory for the Big Tent in the GOP, “ said Stone. “The fact that 9 out of 10 undecided voters broke for Specter in the closing days was the key to his victory. Exit polls showed that the last minute campaigning for Specter by Rudy Giuliani and President Bush made all the difference which itself shows the Big Tent can be effective when Party leaders want to work together.”
The fact that a pro-choice figure and an anti-choice figure in the GOP came together to help a moderate pro-choice Senator beat back the Far Right in our Party truly is a victory for the Big Tent.
Specter had been the #1 target for the anti-choice forces and the Far Right forces such as the Club for Growth. “Moderation won, extremism lost” added Stone.
